Notification not showing on the storefront after a change

If you just created or edited a notification and it is not appearing on your live storefront, work through the checklist below in order. Most cases are fixed by one of the first two checks.

1. Confirm the notification is enabled

Open the Notifications page in the NotifyBubble admin. The notification you expect to see must show as Enabled. Disabled notifications are saved but never sent to visitors.

2. Confirm the app embed is activated in your theme

NotifyBubble runs as an app embed in your published theme. If the embed is off, no notification will appear, no matter how it is targeted.

  • Open your Shopify admin
  • Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize on your live theme
  • Open App embeds in the left sidebar
  • Make sure the NotifyBubble embed is toggled on, then click Save

The NotifyBubble dashboard shows an activation banner when the embed is off; once you turn it on, the banner disappears within a minute.

3. Check that the targeting matches the page you are viewing

Review the targeting on the notification:

  • All Pages should show everywhere
  • Homepage only shows on /
  • Product Pages, Collection Pages, and Standard Pages only show on those page types
  • Specific URLs only shows on the paths you listed (case insensitive, trailing slash and query string are ignored)
  • Specific Products only shows on the product pages you picked

If you are testing on a page that is not in your targeting list, the notification will (correctly) stay hidden.

4. Reload the storefront page

Storefront assets are cached by Shopify's content delivery network and by your browser. After a change:

  • Open the storefront in a fresh tab, or do a hard reload (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+F5 on Windows)
  • If you use a preview link, open it in a private window so it loads a fresh copy

5. Check that you are on the latest published version of NotifyBubble

New targeting modes (such as Specific URLs and Specific Products) and other storefront behavior changes only take effect once the latest version of the NotifyBubble app has been published to your store. If you installed NotifyBubble before a feature was released, reopen the app from your Shopify admin so it loads the current version, then reload the storefront page.

6. Confirm only one notification matches the page

Only one notification is shown per page. If two notifications both match, the most recently created one wins and the others stay hidden. Open the Notifications page and look for the Overlapping notifications banner; it will name the notifications that collide so you can disable or retarget the ones you do not want.

Still stuck?

If the notification still does not appear after the steps above, open the Support page in the NotifyBubble admin and send us the storefront URL where you expect to see it, the title of the notification, and what you have already tried. We will take a look.
