Page Targeting
Page targeting lets you control which pages of your store display a specific notification. Instead of showing the same message everywhere, you can deliver relevant content based on where visitors are browsing.
Available Targeting Options
All Pages
The notification appears on every page of your store. This is the default setting and is best for store wide announcements, general promotions, or welcome messages.
Homepage
The notification only appears on your store's main landing page. Best for:
- Welcome messages for new visitors
- Featured promotions or seasonal announcements
- Brand storytelling or introductions
Product Pages
The notification appears on every individual product page. Best for:
- Product related promotions (for example, free shipping on all orders over $50)
- Cross selling suggestions
- Size guides or product care information
Collection Pages
The notification only appears on collection (category) pages. Best for:
- Collection specific sales
- New arrivals in a category
- Seasonal collection highlights
Standard Pages
The notification only appears on static pages such as About Us, Contact, or FAQ. Best for:
- Additional information or resources
- Navigation help
- Support related messages
Specific URLs
The notification only appears on the exact pages you list. Pick this option when you want a notification on a single landing page, a small set of campaign pages, or a blog post.
- Paste one URL or path per line in the text box
- Full URLs are accepted (only the path is used to match)
- Matching is case insensitive and ignores trailing slashes and query strings, so
/Pages/About/,/pages/about, andhttps://yourstore.com/pages/about?ref=emailall match the same page - Save is blocked until at least one URL is entered
Example:
/pages/about
/blogs/news/holiday-sale
/collections/sale
Specific Products
The notification only appears on the product pages you choose, even if you have hundreds of products. Pick this option for promotions tied to a single item or a curated set of items.
- Click Select products to open the Shopify product picker
- Pick one or more products and confirm
- Each chosen product appears as a removable chip; click the chip's close button to remove it
- Save is blocked until at least one product is selected
If you need to swap products later, click Change products to reopen the picker.
How Targeting Works
When a visitor loads a page on your store:
- NotifyBubble checks the current page
- It looks for an active notification that targets that page (by type, by URL, or by product)
- If a matching notification is found, it displays it
- If no matching notification exists, nothing is shown
Overlap Warnings
The Notifications page shows an Overlapping notifications banner when two or more enabled notifications could appear on the same page. The warning lists the conflict in plain language, for example:
- Two notifications both targeting all pages
- Two notifications both targeting the same product
- A notification targeting all product pages alongside one targeting a specific product
- A notification targeting Standard Pages alongside one targeting
/pages/about
Use the warning to decide which notification should win, and disable or retarget the other.
One Notification Per Page
Only one notification can be displayed at a time on any page. If multiple enabled notifications match, the most recently created one takes priority. The older one stays hidden until the newer one is disabled or deleted.
Targeting Strategy Tips
- Start broad, then refine — begin with All Pages and move to specific targeting as you add more notifications
- Avoid overlaps — the overlap banner will tell you when two notifications collide
- Match content to context — product promotions belong on product pages, general announcements belong on the homepage, campaign messages belong on Specific URLs
- Use analytics to guide decisions — check which pages get the most views and clicks to refine your targeting
